EarthFest 2013 – April 20 at Pellissippi State Community College

Mark your calendars for EarthFest 2013! This year’s event will take place on Saturday • April 20th • 10-5 at Pellissippi State Community College’s Hardin Valley campus.

2013 THEME “ROOTED IN SUSTAINABILITY” ACTIVITIES:

Every year EarthFest chooses a theme. This year’s theme, Rooted in Sustainability, is meant to showcase green technologies used today that are based on older practices. We think it’s important and interesting to see the evolution of technologies we use today so we can appreciate the past, be inspired for the future and be aware for the present.  The technologies that we are demonstrating fall into the following categories.

Every year EarthFest hosts several activities or mini-events planned by our sponsors and exhibitors. Here is a list of activities planned for 2013.

YOUTH LEARNING AND ACTIVITY AREA:

EarthFest is a family friendly event. This year we have lots of activities planned for young folks. Among them:

• Newspaper planters for young gardeners
• Pet rock station
• Clothespin magnets making

CLEAN FUEL SHOWCASE:

Every year the East Tennessee Clean Fuel Coalition invites car sellers, owners, and enthusiasts to showcase vehicles that run on clean fuels or a blend of alternative fuels. Among them this year there will be:

• A Jeep Wrangler (converted to electricity)
• Mazda Miata (converted to electricity)
• Bernardi (converted to electricity)
• VW Beetle (biodiesel)
• VW Golf (biodiesel)
• Ford F-250 (propane)
• Chevy Volt (extended range)
