We’ll join together in a small group for a delightful drive, stopping as needed to view, identify, and absorb these autumn beauties. Appalachian Trail Day Hike: Clingmans Dome to Siler Bald Shelter

September 27   9 am – 6 pm

The Appalachian Trail (AT) winds from north Georgia to northern Maine some 2,175 miles. Join your instructor to learn all about it while hiking a portion in the Smokies. We’ll discuss its history, upkeep, the many legends that abound, the plethora of nature that surrounds it, and the characters who hike it. The Trail straddles the states of North Carolina and Tennessee as it dissects the park for some 70 miles end-to-end. Visit two backcountry shelters, sample trailside huckleberries, and take in great views while soaking-up fall’s colors for an enjoyable hike.
