Summer Music in East Tennessee

Jazz on the Square, Market Square, Knoxville, May 2014

Are you traveling to East Tennessee this summer to discover communities where you might relocate for retirement or buy a second home? The mountains and lakes in this area offer a break from relentless heat with cool waters and misty mountain mornings as well as championship golf courses.

Summertime in East Tennessee brings with it a whole cadre of outdoor concerts and music festivals, from the high energy rock at Bonnaroo to the classical favorites performed by the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the smooth sounds of jazz at Jazz on the Square 8-10 p.m. every Tuesday through Aug. 27 on Market Square in Knoxville. The concert is free and features a core of musicians which include Vance Thompson, Greg Tardy, Keith and Kenneth Brown and Clint Mullican. They are joined by a range of musicians like Jamel Mitchell and others. It’s a perfect time to forget the week’s stresses for a while as you cruise through the night, listening to the sounds of trumpets, saxophones and keyboards during balmy summer nights.

Small restaurants and marinas on Tellico Lake and Ft. Loudon Lake combine water sports and boating with delicious food, fun camaraderie and local musicians as the afternoon slides into dusk.

East Tennessee is a great place to vacation or to call home, and the planned communities along Tellico Lake offer a relaxing, small town feel and beautiful water and mountain views with abundant opportunities for all types of family-oriented fun. Tellico Village and Rarity Bay cater to the Baby Boomer buyer who is looking for a quality lifestyle with a reasonable cost of living.  If you are looking for a lake destination and are interested in real estate,  give Lakeside Real Estate Group a call at 865.458.9600.
