Community Supported Agriculture | Buy Your Shares NOW!

Screen shot 2013-03-12 at 8.56.35 PMThree Rivers Market Co-op, 1100 N Central St in Knoxville., recently held its annual Community Supported Agriculture Fair. Sixteen farmers were on site, 14 of them offering CSAs featuring everything from vegetables and fruits to beef, raw milk, and eggs.

Thinking about signing up for a CSA but want to learn more about the idea before you commit? For over 25 years, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has become a popular way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food directly from a farmer.

Here is a quick outline: a farmer offers a certain number of “shares” to the public. Typically the share consists of a box of vegetables, but other farm products may be included. Interested consumers purchase a share (aka a “membership” or a “subscription”) and in return receive a box (bag, basket) of seasonal produce each week throughout the farming season.

Below is a list of the participating farms currently accepting CSA membership. You can also go to and enter your zip code to find a list of farms and farmers who are CSA participates.
